iAlley Ball Release

I did some art for a local iPhone developer a while back. He just released the game. Its called iAlley Ball. I don't have an iPhone/Touch so I haven't played it yet.

This was rendered in Carrara (old) with 4 layers, where I used Photoshop to blend to get the results I wanted for shadows and lighting. It turned out better than I thought my old software could do.

I would have used Blender, but at the time I was struggling with the materials and camera, so I fell back on my old familiar. Note that the Carrara I have is 3.0 (ala 2003), and I made it do some things it isn't capable of via creative blending of multiple renders.

2003! Man my PC is getting old.

The Beginning of The End

So it began.

I've now submitted it to the online repair at XBox. I'll probably be posting more now since I can't play Far Cry 2.

Flash Class

I know it isn't much, but this is what we had to do in my Simulation class. For some reason we have Flash labs. This one basically had us make objects and then move something. Pretty lame, but I assume it's going to get better.

Movie: In Bruges

I love my wife. She wanted to see a hitman dark comedy so I obliged. In Bruges did a lot of things right, and by right I mean a lot of things I wouldn't expect a movie to do, but actually made sense.

A comedy it isn't though. It has some funny stuff, which is mostly in conversation of crazy, racist people. And a midget.

Its worth seeing. Colin is a great actor too and he really shines in In Bruges. (I just wanted to write in twice.)

Game: Mirror's Edge

I'm playing Mirror's Edge. It is quite an amazing game, though incredibly frustrating too. The buildings and ineriors and incredible. The feel of speed and motion is great too, and the falls (at least at first) make you cringe. The feeling of exhilaration and excitement too when you accomplish a stunt.

I really like the game I think, but the first run through is making me upset. I don't see why I have to fight so many guys. I don't see where to go and I don't have time to look because 15 guys are shooting at me. To its credit for the most part it does a good job guiding the player along.

Arithmetic Operations Timing

In GSP-130, Systems Architecture and Assembler, we had a lab to examine different mathematical operations and the time it takes to process them. The bar chart shows the results, comparing integer and floating point add, multiply and divide.

As I expected, integer add and multiply was faster than floating point, but what surprised me was the integer divide taking longer.

My Next Project?

More like ongoing project...
